Small children are well known for poking all manner of objects into their noses and ears but this story from the UK really takes some beating; parents take note!

A nine year old boy, who was diagnosed as being deaf when he was two years old, recently discovered ’something’ coming out of his ear. He scratched and poked at it until his mother decided to investigate further. She saw that a tiny piece of cotton wool was poking out of his ear.

Taking him to the hospital staff then removed nearly 2 inches of cotton wool that the boy had poked down into his ear when he was a toddler. His deafness disappeared!

All’s well that ends well, but I would like to know how doctors never discovered this when they were testing his hearing back when he was two!
