Keeping the kids happy

Last Xmas we finally gave in to our kids requests and bought them each one of those hand-held game consoles. Now, as they are young we were glad to see that there was a range of games to suit their age and they have played happily with them since then. But it was a good decision to buy two though.

They are now the second generation of ‘gamers’ in the family; I bought the very first nintendo that came out and had a lot of fun with it. Personally I reckon that the original format was the best and have a genuine affection for the first Mario and Zelda that appeared - primitive now as they may seem

Now my own kids have the benefit of how technology has moved on in the gaming world; my eldest have the xbox 360 and, even though it all seems too complicated for me, it looks like a lot of fun.

Bits and pieces

May 10, 2008 on 11:45 am | In Miscellaneous, Technology | No Comments

One of things that really confuses me is the technology behind these things we called computers. We turn them on and just take it for granted that they will work and when they don’t…

Funny how we have all come to depend so readily and heavily on them isn’t it? we need them for business - what business does not use a computer these days? - we use them at home for communicating with friends and family. Mostly they are good but sometimes they have their dark side. Especially where our kids are concerned.

Anyway, should you need to upgrade or service your computer maybe your technician will suggest a new Cat5e Keystone jack . And I’ll bet, like me, you wont have the foggiest what he/she is talking about. But one thing is for sure…your PC wont work without one!

Is your life worth one dollar?

May 10, 2008 on 11:33 am | In Finance, Miscellaneous | No Comments

Of course we cannot really put a monetary price on our lives as such but consider your place in life - you have a family…? you have a career and financial obligations…? what would happen to your family if you were suddenly taken out of the picture.

How would they cope with things like the mortgage, debts, education…even the smaller things like a vacation if your salary was no longer there? we tend to insure readily the important things in our lives, the material things such as our car, furniture, home…but what about US ?

A life insurance policy is not just a form of security for your family should the unthinkable happen unexpectedly; it is a sign that you think ahead to the future. A good policy can cost as little as one dollar to cover you for as much as $50,000 - that is pretty cheap life insurance when you think about it.

I’ll bet you have made a will to ensure loose ends are tied after you are gone - but how about your family and their financial needs? this is something well worth looking at.
