Jurassic desert ??

May 25, 2008 on 10:56 am | In Science Fiction Technology | No Comments

The trackprints of a herd of dinosaurs have been discovered on mud flats in Yemen and this marks the first discovery of dinosaur footprints ever found on the Arabian peninsula. Scientists know that they were made by eleven long-necked ’sauropods’ - the largest land animal in the Earth’s history which walked on four short legs and ate plants.

Previously not even bones or fossils have been found on the Arabian peninsula and now this fantastic discovery of these tracks show that dinsoaurs DID exist in this part of the world. The tracks indicate that the sauropods were following a river or waterway – scientists love finding tracks as they can tell from them just what the creatures were doing at the time, how big they were and whether they were herd creatures and how fast they moved.

This adds one more piece to the dino mystery – where did they originate and how did they come to be in certain places?

Another day in London, another death…

May 25, 2008 on 10:48 am | In Culture, Miscellaneous | No Comments

Yep, yet another teenager has been knifed to death in yet another mindless attack in London. And all over what? a mobile phone of all things. This young guy had recently filmed a part in the upcoming Harry Potter movie and at the age of eighteen was looking forward to the rest of his life…as many do.

Unfortunately more and more young people in England are not seeing their 20th birthday; they are either stabbed, bashed or shot to death – and if they are murdered they are committing suicide with the current trend being to hang oneself. Makes you feel as though you should take out a life insurance policy just for walking down the street these days.

Eurovision song contest – a stinker!

May 25, 2008 on 10:31 am | In Culture | No Comments

This event has to be the biggest joke ever pulled on the European people. And for something which used to have a certain degree of credibility last night proved that if the Eurovision Song Contest is about anything at all, it is NOT about music or talent in any way, shape or form.

The results were just as appalling as the non-depth of talent. Eastern bloc countries basically ensured that places like the UK did not get a look-in. I reckon that the UK should respond to this outrage by shutting it’s immigration gates to every European from every country who voted in last night’s sham.

A few humourous moments though made it worthwhile; the French submitting their results in their own language when everyone else did theirs in English – oh well, let’s allow them to remain deluded that the future of their language outside France is not in big trouble…

The sight of all those chunky and well-fed dancing girls – obviously European women do NOT subscribe to the ’size zero’ ideal; the Spanish entry – I am still laughing but only at the size of those girls thighs!

The Swedish commentator who obviously had enjoyed some wacky baccy prior to announcing Sweden’s results…at least I HOPE that was his excuse!

The next instalment in this heavily political and totally rigged farce will be staged in Russia – maybe they can vie with Beijing for which event can prove to be the most pointless…
