The Holistic approach

Even though I consult a conventional general practictioner whenever myself or one of the kids feels poorly I have long been curious about alternative medicine. When you think about it the holistic approach makes perfectly good sense for the main reason that it treats the ‘entire person’ rather than just the one ailment.
Over the centuries this was how it was done; the ‘doctor’ took into account what the patient ate, drank, how often they went to the toilet, how long they slept - you get the picture - when putting together their treatment. They even pioneered such things as acne treatments and ways to relieve high blood pressure - using leeches.
You have to admit that despite some of the weird and wonderful potions prescribed back then may have done more harm than good in some cases, but of course the human race did survive. Maybe going ‘back to nature’ has it’s advantages ?

Consider the wristwatch

Next time you check the time on your wristwatch just consider how far they have come considering that the wristwatch has only been around since the 1920’s.
Prior to then at the turn of the century clocks were worn on a chain or in the pocket - think fob watch. Craftmanship was as precise back then as it is today and the hobby of collecting timepieces is a worldwide industry with people paying big bucks for rare and valuable pieces. Indeed collecting watches can be a wise investment.
Look back over the decades and you will see that the familiar brand names still exist today; makers such as Parmigiani and Cartier for instance. The first wristwatch was actually devised when a nurse in the late 19th century fastened a small clock to her wrist with a silk band. Look how far we have come today!

They suggest things like crunchy cricket sticks or grilled toasted caterpillar can add important nutrients to our diet PLUS aid in reducing the environments insect problems.
Don’t gag though; there are many cultures around the world where people do eat insects. In parts of Asia deep fried grasshopper and fried ants are a delicacy; in Australia the native aborigines have long enjoyed the witchetty grub - apparently they are like chicken when roasted over a fire.
So, in order to place less strain on the world’s meat supplies, and less strain on our digestive systems by eating less red meat do you think going ‘insect’ is the way to go ?
