Forget about commercial real estate - the beach where the Roman’s first arrived in Britain to begin their invasion over 2000 years ago has been uncovered 2 miles inland from the coast of Kent.

Buried under 6ft of soil, the remains of the shingle harbour were discovered and lies close to the remains of the Roman fort of Richborough near Sandwich, one of the most important Roman sites in England and once the gateway to the British Isles.

It has long been thought they landed at Richborough, which grew quickly into a major port and soon appeared on maps of the empire.  However, the location of the beach was lost centuries ago as the coastline of Kent changed.
After a four-month dig on previously untouched land at Richborough, it was rediscovered on Tuesday.
