Sonic the Hedgehog has been named the most popular video-game character of all time. The popular cartoon topped the poll of over 500 gamers, compiled to mark the start of the London Games Festival this week. Now, it all depends on personal opinion of course as to whether YOU think Sonic is the best but he certainly has been around for a very long time.
Me? I have to say I prefer ol’ Mario. I remember my first Nintendo console where Mario ran only from left to right and jump over this and that. My god some of those levels were soooo frustrating !
But look at what the kids are playing these days; who’d have ever thought that gaming would go so far - and get so expensive !

New hope to keep the men we love safe from ‘that’ cancer
October 23, 2008 on 3:23 pm | In Culture | No CommentsScientists have amazingly grown a prostate gland from just a single cell in a wonderful breakthrough that could pave the way for new cancer drugs. In a ‘compelling and important study’, researchers turned a stem cell from a mouse prostate into an entire gland.
This finding is likely to speed research into ways of beating prostate cancer and this, if it all succeeds, will surely be one of the biggest breakthroughs in modern science.
As more men begin to develop this cancer at a younger age - some in their early forties - it is so important that a cure be found. No longer just the domain of the older man environmental factors are being blamed for the increase in younger men being diagnosed with this terrible disease.
Keep your fingers crossed that a cure will come out of this latest breakthrough - especially if you have sons.

The most important aspect of your car…
October 23, 2008 on 3:17 pm | In Culture | No CommentsHas to be the car seat that your children will use whilst riding with you out on the roads. One thing I have noticed is that over the past twenty-odd years the technology and design regarding child safety car seats has changed considerably from the time when the device was simply a contraption with a strap to what we see on the market today.
And the brands have changed too in order to maintain the highest safety standards. One of the most enduring brands is Britax simply for the amount of time and research invested in the development of their car safety seats. The seats need to be not only 100% secure in any situation but they also need to address the child’s comfort when seated in them.
Try driving a few hundred km’s with a testy child and you’ll see what I mean. If they child can sleep in them comfortably your trip will go a lot smoother and that in turn reduces stress levels for Mum/Dad doing the driving.
