About three years ago I knew nothing about the art of bodybuilding - until my son decided to beef up his tall but stringy frame. He bought all the magazines, read up on all the dietary advice and had me cooking him meals which had to adhere to all his demands re protein, carbs…it was an education for me I have to admit.

Then he started looking into what drugs assist weight loss and muscle addition and it was an eye-opener to see how different the drugs were in relation to bodybuilding. I never allowed him to take steroids (like many men do) but he researched things like Hydroxycut hardcore. I sent him to the doc because I did not think he needed to lose weight - he just needed to bulk up a bit - and the doc told him exactly what I had told him.

Over the following year he did just that and now looks great. My advice…? see the doc before you take any drugs - you might think you need them but an expert opinion is always needed.

There’s a new health hazard out there for our kids/teens which has already claimed one life in the UK…Lynx deodorant.

A 12 year old boy passed out and died after spraying himself with this stuff and the noxious fumes overwhelmed him; I am not surprised - I have banned my sons from bringing this stuff into the house. It stinks and it makes you wheeze.

With girls these days we have to worry about them getting their hands on diet pills and starving themselves…now we have to be concerned about Lynx deodorant - and it is something that many teenage boys use these days. If you kid is an asthmatic best advise them to steer clear of it.
