Redoing the bathroom
February 5, 2009 on 5:34 pm | In Culture | No CommentsOne thing we have committed ourselves to doing over the next month is completely renovating the bathroom to make it ‘child friendly’. The previous owners of the house had no kids and this means we have to child proof some aspects of the place and of course we are starting with the bathroom.
Given that the bathroom can be a hazardous place for kids we have invested in some bathroom safety products such as practical matting (rubber) and a safety handrail for the mother-in-law.
Next stop will be the living area then the back garden – before we get the puppy

A great gift idea
February 5, 2009 on 5:27 pm | In Technology | No CommentsIve just been looking around for some early birthday present ideas as Ive five sons with birthdays that start pretty soon and extend right through the year. Apart from some relatives too of course…
My fifteen year old son is in nagging mode for a cool type of watch and as he trusts my taste in these kinds of things I was attracted by the look of those Fossil watches that Ive seen advertised. Allan is always after something different from what other people have so it looks like I will be getting the credit card out for one pretty soon…

Settling in again
February 5, 2009 on 5:21 pm | In Culture, Travel | No CommentsOne thing we knew would be consistent when we moved abroad was the same weather we would find at our new home. Cold weather – and lots of it too. Our last place was freezing with regards to daily blustery gales and our new home location is simply knee deep in snow!
We tried to get the kids out to school this morning despite the snowy conditions and decided to check out the snow reports on the TV just as a precaution. Good job we did as seeing the cars lined up for miles past the exit signs on the motorways and back streets were phenomenal. We decided to keep the kids home instead.
We also got a call from our old neighbour that a severe storm hit our previous address resulting in the loss of four large trees – sounds like the weather is following us!
