Some of Nostradamus’ prophecies…what do you think?

Here are some predictions of what the old guy reckoned would happen:

The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck

The year of the great seventh number accomplished,
It will appear at the time of the games of slaughter:
Not far from the great millennial age,
When the buried will go out from their tombs.

In The Prophecies he compiled his collection of major, long-term predictions. The first installment was published in 1555. The second, with 289 further prophetic verses, was printed in 1557. The third edition, with three hundred new quatrains, was reportedly printed in 1558, but now only survives as part of the omnibus edition that was published after his death in 1568. This version contains one unrhymed and 941 rhymed quatrains, grouped into nine sets of 100 and one of 42, called “Centuries”.

What will happen on 21/12/12…?

March 30, 2009 on 11:09 am | In Magic, Science Fiction Technology | No Comments

Well, if you believe all the doomsday fans life as we know it will come to an end on this planet. But haven’t they been saying this for years now…?

When I was a kid a documentary called ‘The Prophecies of Nostradamus’ was aired on television and it sent shockwaves around the public conscience. This was back in the 1980’s and I recall reports of kids being so distressed by the things in the show that complaints were registered with the tv channel.

If I recall correctly 1997 was the year earmarked for the start of WW3 – apart from Princess Diana being killed that year nothing of real note happened. So Nostradamus got it wrong in that case.

They like giving certain days a catchy name though – Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now Doomsday 2012…

But in 2012 – that’s just around the corner so at least we are somewhat forewarned. They reckon it will be a combination of natural disasters and man-made catastrophes, but we already have enough of those going on right now. It seems to me that we are in danger of losing it all at any given time or year – but as for me, on the 21st of December 2012 I will still be going about my Xmas shopping…
