Prof Stephen Hawking in hospital and very ill…
April 20, 2009 on 6:15 pm | In Late news | No CommentsPrayers needed right now for ‘Man in a Million’ Professor Stephen Hawking who is currently seriously ill in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

This great genius has worked at The University of Cambridge’s Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics for more than 30 years and since 1979 has been the University’s Lucasian Professor of Mathematics.
He is one of the world’s longest surviving sufferers of Motor Neurone Disease and has astounded medical science since he developed the condition in the 1960’s as a student.
His findings and writings have not only posed many questions but also answered those which mankind always sought to find solutions to; he is the epitome of the quiet achiever and he surely stands as one of the greatest minds to have lived. His book ‘A Brief History of Time’ changed the way we view the universe and challenged previously published theories.
In 1982 Professor Hawking was awarded a CBE before becoming a Companion of Honour in 1989 and is a Fellow of the Royal Society. He has three children and one grandchild and has even guest starred on The Simpsons!
Now another big question for that great British Establishment – where is the Knighthood…?
Get well Stephen and we will see you in that tuxedo in Buckingham Palace soon!

If Fern can do it so can you (and me…)
April 20, 2009 on 6:12 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsLet’s Dance for Comic Relief – I think it’s top notch entertainment and last night I just had to cheer on Fern Britton when she danced to Singin’ in the Rain. Fern is looking simply fantastic and I hope her critics ae choking on their words.
Okay so what if Fern lost her weight via a gastric band op rather than taking something likephenphedrine she has obviously put in a lot of exercise while she has been losing the weight – no unfit person could do what she did last night on that show.
Jealous people say nasty things; Fern looks remarkable and I say well done Fern!

Some inspiration for dieters…
April 20, 2009 on 5:58 pm | In Culture | No CommentsI have just been reading one of the most inspirational stories I have ever seen. A man in his twenties, weighing 45 stone and given just months to live, has managed to shed all that excess weight and is now a fitness instructor.
David Smith was effectively eating himself to death until he met the best motivation of all – his mortality. You can take drugs like Anoretix and lose the weight easily but unless you change your inner self nothing will work.
David spent two years turning his life around, and underwent several operations to remove excess skin, but he has now changed his life forever. He was so inspired by his personal trainer he decided to aim to become one himself – and he has.
Even better, he has met his very first girlfriend. What a nice story eh…?
