Sorry lady you cannot have your baby here – you are too fat.
November 12, 2009 on 11:03 pm | In Culture | No CommentsIt is crazy but a hospital in the UK is going to start banning obese pregnant women from having their babies at their maternity unit for fear that they will die from complications during the birth. Fair enough that there is concern about these women who do not watch their weight during pregnancy but to ban them from the hospital…?
Why not include in their pre-natal care a programme called ‘how to lose belly fat fast‘or words to that effect. It is not advisable to lose weight in the latter stages of pregnancy but within the first trimester there is no barrier to losing a little weight…or enough to make things safer for yourself. I think it is time for the NHS to introduce a programme aimed at getting obese pregnant women slimmed down before the mid-trimester; it will benefit both mum and baby and possibly ensure the mum does not get too big before the birth.

Santa’s coming…
November 12, 2009 on 10:53 pm | In Culture | No CommentsYep, our kids have started placing the wishlist orders and the first Santa Claus has made is big arrival at the local shopping centre this evening. What gets me is that the shop announced ‘free gifts for the kids – see santa for free!’…when on earth did santa start charging for listening to kids xmas wishes…?
The kids got some sweets but the ‘free gifts’ did not run to things like a ps3 which would have gone down very well with our kids especially. Just as well, we are thinking of getting them one this year – we have waited a couple of years and have decided they are old enough to use one properly.
