Excited children who can’t quite wait for Christmas morning, can now track Santa’s progress around the world online. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad) will be keeping tabs on his reindeer-pulled sleigh using Google Earth. Children can also get updates via the social networking website Twitter by following @noradsanta.

Santa-nav: Father Christmas is snapped on his journey around the world with a number of ‘Santa cams’ The tradition of following Father Christmas began in 1955, after a Colorado newspaper advert for a Santa hotline was misprinted. Today in Australia children can get an update of santa’s progress via the evening news – I remember staying up and waiting for the newsreader to tell us children it was time for bed as santa was finally on his way down south.

Men make the worst patients by far…

December 14, 2009 on 11:01 pm | In Culture | No Comments

My son is a strapping sixteen year old but very much like most males his age – well, any age for that matter. He hates having to go to the dentist or doctor even for check-ups and today he needed to go to the local clinic for a couple of things. He had been in a cold sweat for two weeks about this appointment and as we set off for the clinic I thought he was going to pass out.

Of course I had to remain with him as he was told to get up on the exam table and he laid there waiting for the nurse to appear looking the absolute picture of woe; he turned out to be perfectly fine though and he left the premises at a faster speed than we arrived at. He has a dental check-up next month and has already started panicking!
