The phone that tells you if someone has been snooping…
January 19, 2010 on 10:51 pm | In Technology | No CommentsTechnology has made trust a thing of the past with the launch of a new iPhone app that catches out prying partners who read their loved one’s text messages. The iTrust app works by creating a locked, dummy screen to stop suspicious eyes poring over the owner’s text messages, emails or social networking accounts.
But as well as guarding sensitive information, iTrust also records any clandestine activity while the owner was absent – storing a fingerprint record of every button pressed on the phone’s touch-screen display.

The never-ending quest to look young
January 19, 2010 on 10:45 pm | In Culture | No CommentsHow many women were amazed – and probably annoyed – to read the other day that the famous ‘creme of the stars’, Creme de la Mer, which costs over $200 actually contains ingrediants that come to no more than $50.
So who is kidding whom…?
You can buy the best wrinkle creams around and yet I reckon that most of the time you are better off just rubbing margarine all over your face, or olive oil – which is what some mediterranean men and women swear by. But really, don’t you think there needs to be a lot more transparency with regards to these products…? if the product only really costs $50 to put together then it is a con that it is marketed at an astronomical sum. And so far there is no evidence that it works.

Does going to sleep elude you…?
January 19, 2010 on 10:35 pm | In Culture | No CommentsI was reading the other day an interview with the actress Julie Walters – and an excellent read it was too. She’s one of my favourite actors. What I found fascinating was her relating her experience of chronic insomnia – for about 15 years she barely slept a wink until she discovered an effective sleep aid which was, incredibly, counselling.
No tablets helped her, no special pillows – just some hypnosis which made her confront something that happened to her during her own birth. Once she had confronted and recognised this she found she could sleep for the first time in years.
I wonder how many other people have unresolved inner issues which could be the cause of the same problem for them…? the mind is a mysterious thing.
