Stilettos are not for me or people who suffer from vertigo.
September 30, 2010 on 2:37 pm | In Culture | No CommentsThe principal of my kids last school is a woman who loves her shoes – she wears the kind of shoes to work that girls wear out on hens nights…they would have to go five inches at least. I always wondered how on earth she managed to stay on her feet in them as she was forever clumping up and down the corridors all day. The high-heeled shoes these days give me the creeps as I cannot stand up in them – much as I would like to be able to.
Yep, I have tried them on – the arches are so curved you really need very narrow feet to get them on and my feet are broad. I like the type of shoes you see such as on the beautifeel shoes website – now they are MY kind of shoes!

Lucy settles in.
September 24, 2010 on 11:50 am | In Travel | No CommentsI wrote a while ago about my cousin’s daughter who has taken the big step and left the family nest at the age of 21. She is now a nanny to some children in the United States and is loving her new life although she is still getting used to some aspects of her new home and responsibilities. She has found that the US is very much like Australia in many ways but aspects such as health insurance in nc works differently to Australian health care but fingers crossed she will stay healthy and not need a doctor.
We are loving the postcards she is sending and she is very much looking forward to her first Xmas there.

Being a tourist in your own country
September 24, 2010 on 11:46 am | In Travel | No CommentsMy husband was a very keen traveller some years back, before he was tamed and domesticated, and he can safely say that he has visited all the continents on the planet and a good selection of the countries within them. Strangely though he has not seen all that much of where we live, which is unusual seeing as all you need is a car and about a week to see around Ireland. he has collected oodles of fridge magnets from around the world and all the family have the holiday cards that he has sent out to one and all over the years.
We have booked a coach trip, three days worth, to see around the west coast of Ireland with the kids as surprisingly he has not been there yet. Looking forward to it too!
