Back to reality for young Slumdog star

February 28, 2009 on 5:33 pm | In Culture | No Comments

Poor little Azharuddin Ismail. The ten year old star of the hit film Slumdog Millionaire spent a couple of weeks just recently tasting the life of glamour and five star luxury in the run up to the Oscar’s.

The child has been celebrated around the world, particularly in his home of Mumbai in India, however when the partying stopped he had to return to his less-than luxurious shack of a home in Mumbai. It has no heating, furniture or even wood flooring.

The child refused to parade for some tourists so his father gave him a savage beating – obviously the boy will be expected to become the family meal ticket now he is famous. That’s the sadness of life for children from these cultures – they seem to exist just to support their elders. It is so damn wrong.
