The ‘email invite’

Haven’t times changed with the advent of the internet? how many people these days bother to write a letter to a friend on the other side of the world? who can be bothered to wait over a week for it to arrive and then about three weeks for a reply to come back…?

Today we use the ‘email’ and the old way of writing a letter and posting it at the post office - called snail mail - is falling into history. It is a shame in many ways as a personally handwritten letter is much nicer to receive than an email I always think.

Even the way you issue party invitations has changed; we received a wedding invitation a year back - not via the postman, but by email. The couple emailed all their wedding invites. You have to admit this is a much cheaper option than the ‘old way’ - anyone recall just how expensive custom made invites were? and how much time it took to write them up and then post them off…?

Yes, the email-way has taken hold for sure; but you cannot make a souvenir out of an email invite can you?

Eat less and move more - how easy could it get?

July 12, 2008 on 3:56 pm | In Culture | No Comments

Every day now one reads articles telling us how obesity levels are at an all time high amongst women, men and children. It is not hard to see why either…

Don’t blame it on genetics or environment - blame it on the fact that we, as a society, have simply become lazier in recent years.

It is no wonder that dietary formulas such as Fentraphen have become so popular; but people need to be very careful when taking these drugs without a doctors prescription.

Your health is too big a price to pay for being thin…

Remember when batteries were needed?

July 6, 2008 on 7:32 am | In Culture, Technology | No Comments

My how times have changed. I remember when batteries were what drove our childrens toys but now everything is ‘wireless’ - even remote control units are on their way out. I remember the original nintendo console and actually I liked it the best - not complicated and you didn’t look a fool sitting there with the control in your hand. Look at someone playing a Wii  today - they stand up and wave their arms around…

That old sign ‘batteries not included’ need be changed now to ‘batteries not necessary’…
