Dr Jessica Sunshine, one of the researchers who found the water, said: ‘It’s sort of just sticking on the surface. We always think of the Moon as dead, and this is sort of a dynamic process that’s going on.’ Ten years ago, scientists found traces of water lying in the shadowy craters at the Moon’s poles.  The latest announcement comes two weeks before a Nasa probe will be smashed near the Moon’s south pole to see whether it can kick up buried ice.

The discovery, with three studies being published in the journal Science today and a Nasa briefing, could refocus interest in the moon.

The discovery of at least 1,345 different items, thought to date back to the seventh century, is expected to redefine perceptions of the period. Terry Herbert, from Burntwood, Staffordshire, came across the collection as he searched a field near his home with his trusty 14-year-old detector and is now in line for a seven-figure sum. It had been hidden for more than 1,300 years but was recently thrown up by ploughing and amazingly, some was just sitting on the top of the ground.

Experts have already examined the 1,345 items but another 56 clods of earth have been X-rayed and are known to hold more metal artefacts, meaning the figure is likely to rise to around 1,500. At least 650 are gold, weighing more than than 5kg, and another 530 are silver, weighing around 1kg. This is far bigger than previous finds – including the Sutton Hoo burial site in Suffolk.

Many of the items in the hoard are warfare paraphernalia inlaid with precious stones, including sword pommel caps and hilt plates. Experts say it is the best example of Anglo-Saxon workmanship they have ever seen and may have belonged to Saxon royalty, possibly the King of Mercia.

This great genius has worked at The University of Cambridge’s Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics for more than 30 years and since 1979 has been the University’s Lucasian Professor of Mathematics.

He is one of the world’s longest surviving sufferers of Motor Neurone Disease and has astounded medical science since he developed the condition in the 1960’s as a student.

His findings and writings have not only posed many questions but also answered those which mankind always sought to find solutions to; he is the epitome of the quiet achiever and he surely stands as one of the greatest minds to have lived. His book ‘A Brief History of Time’ changed the way we view the universe and challenged previously published theories.

In 1982 Professor Hawking was awarded a CBE before becoming a Companion of Honour in 1989 and is a Fellow of the Royal Society. He has three children and one grandchild and has even guest starred on The Simpsons!

Now another big question for that great British Establishment – where is the Knighthood…?

While many of those fans who pay to go through the turnstiles to see Rooney and his team mates lose matches, despite being paid hideous amounts of money to do so, something just turns the tummy about seeing so much ostentatiousness being applied to something like this. A quarter of a million pounds for one dress…? many would-be brides today have to resort to picking up their dress at a discount sale - and probably look twice as better in it.

She went in there two years ago and sat on the toilet and refused to come out despite her boyfriend of 16 years doing everything he could to entice her out. She has been sitting there for so long that her skin had grown around the seat and she was stuck.

Her boyfriend cannot be that much brighter…taking food and drink into her all this time rather than calling the rescue services a lot sooner.

Hope she remembered to flush…

Unfortunately a website in the US has blown his cover and now Harry has to return to England. A terrible shame, both for himself and his men. But now it is necessary as he will undoubtedy become a target, as will his soldiers serving under his command. I am sure though that he will be well received when he returns home and will continue his distinguished service.

I have seen those stories as well and from the off you could tell that they were fakes. But this one might well start you thinking…Frightened teenager Matthew Summers was given the creeps after taking a snap of seven friends - and finding a mystery eighth face staring back.

The photograph appears to show the floating ghostly image of a child, which appears to be peeping through between the legs of his friends. It certainly looks real, but if you allow for the fact that teenagers were involved, you could well be convinced that spiritual forces were at work at that moment.  I have an open mind with anything regarding the ‘other side’ and I am keeping it open in this case.

But why is that little girl crying?…

Consumers are complaining that they are being forced to buy ‘package’ deals which means they have to fork out not only for the Wii-thing but ‘games included’ as well. The retailers are laughing all the way to the bank. Makes you wish you had listened to your kids’ nagging and whinging request for this wretched thing some months back.

Even those on Ebay are getting into the act with Wii’s seling for £500 and upwards. Let me tell you this. Our’s is one household that will be surviving this Xmas without a Nintendo Wii. This Xmas and beyond with fingers crossed.
