What will happen on 21/12/12…?
March 30, 2009 on 11:09 am | In Magic, Science Fiction Technology | No CommentsWell, if you believe all the doomsday fans life as we know it will come to an end on this planet. But haven’t they been saying this for years now…?
When I was a kid a documentary called ‘The Prophecies of Nostradamus’ was aired on television and it sent shockwaves around the public conscience. This was back in the 1980’s and I recall reports of kids being so distressed by the things in the show that complaints were registered with the tv channel.
If I recall correctly 1997 was the year earmarked for the start of WW3 – apart from Princess Diana being killed that year nothing of real note happened. So Nostradamus got it wrong in that case.
They like giving certain days a catchy name though – Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now Doomsday 2012…
But in 2012 – that’s just around the corner so at least we are somewhat forewarned. They reckon it will be a combination of natural disasters and man-made catastrophes, but we already have enough of those going on right now. It seems to me that we are in danger of losing it all at any given time or year – but as for me, on the 21st of December 2012 I will still be going about my Xmas shopping…

When a mystery is solved it ain’t so much fun
January 10, 2009 on 6:01 pm | In Magic, Science Fiction Technology | No CommentsWhen a wind turbine was recently put out of business during the night – damaged and a blade lost – people were quick to blame it on a UFO. And it had all the marks of something strange and inexplicable when locals reported bright flashing lights and a loud booming noise prior to the crash.
But now authorities have placed the blame on an unmanned stealth bomber – and it does not seem anywhere near as interesting an explanation as the former…does it?
Sometimes it is nicer, and more fun, when things cannot be explained away – a little bit of mystery always adds a touch of magic.

Did John Titor lose his watch…?
January 4, 2009 on 1:12 pm | In Magic, Science Fiction Technology | No CommentsOne of the most fascinating things to consider is the possibility of time travel. Plenty of people discuss it, plenty discount it and certainly plenty believe it is possible. In fact, we even have the name of one alleged time traveller and it is NOT Dr Who.
We are talking about John Titor of course.
But something very interesting has been unearthed in China. A 100 year old Swiss watch has been discovered in a Ming Dynasty tomb that has not been opened for 400 years. Who owned the watch and how did it get inside a tomb that was last sealed 300 years BEFORE the watch was created…?
Watches were not around at the time of the Ming Dynasty, of course, and Switzerland did not even exist as a country back then.
How did it get there?
Sceptics are calling it an early april fools joke but there is no doubt that we have a hell of a mystery to solve here. Did John Titor – or another time traveller – lose his watch in that tomb?
Fascinating.
