Do we need 3D TV?
December 20, 2008 on 10:43 am | In Technology | No CommentsAs if we don’t watch enough of the ‘goggle box’ as it is now technology is giving us another way to spend even more time in front of the telly…3D TV!
Sky is promising to stun viewers by introducing 3D television to millions of living rooms within the next year – so what do you think…?
And will it require a new type of screen and will it distort the shapes of the people on the TV so that they look twice a wide and need something like a dose of Decaslim…?
The satellite broadcaster demonstrated the new technology this week by showing images shot at rugby and football matches which made the action appear to leap out of the screen – just what we need eh?
Viewers will need to wear special glasses which allow the brain to process images so that they appear to be in your living room. Trouble is have you ever been to a 3D movie at the cinema…?
Those glasses are a pain and the weird imagery tends to give you a headache – I have been to see two 3D films and never made it through either of them.
I think I will pass up on the opportunity to do this with TV – imagine the cast of Eastenders jumping out of the screen at you!!
