No more plastic

February 29, 2008 on 10:15 pm | In Culture |

The campaign is on now in the UK to rid itself completely of those destructive plastic bags. Recent pictures of whales, swans and seals who died from ingesting plastic bags thrown into the sea were heartbreaking and seem to have struck a chord with the public in general.

But how is this to be achieved? it seems that supermarkets will be targeted and will not be allowed to give them away to shoppers anymore. I remember the old brown paper bags - they were environmentally friendly, reusable at home - even if they did split or tear when something wet inside the bag soaked through.

But they could be the answer we need…back to the old days and the brown paper bags then!
