Skeletons in the closet - or under the floor
April 21, 2008 on 9:16 am | In Culture |Anyone remember the movie Poltergeist from about 1982? it was about a house being built over an ancient graveyard and the house then being possessed by evil spirits. Spooky stuff indeed. But what happens when you find your home is actually located on top of a graveyard?
A lady in the UK has done such a thing. During home renovations workmen discovered skeletons when they dug up the foundations underneath her living room floor. Ten skeletons in fact. They had been buried there around the 1700’s in what had been an unofficial Quaker burial site.
Trouble is the council refuses to pay for their removal. Yuk. Not sure if I would want to live in that house after finding human remains underneath it. But I think it is very unfair that she has to pay for their disposal!
