Snail-pace broadband

One of the most annoying aspects of working online these days has to be when your internet speed is too darn slow and it is not all that uncommon either. Studies have revealed that customers are not getting the high speed broadband they are paying for with many getting just half the speed.

And it affects business too. Those who own vacation rentals will tell you that guests these days expect, among most features, high speed broadband in their vacation property and we know several people who have fielded many complaints this past year from disgruntled guests in this regard. People take along their computers on vacation and expect to use them as they are accustomed to at home and at work.

The study also showed speedy access of the internet depended on the time of day consumers logged on with busiest periods being late afternoon and between 9-10pm at night.  Those experiencing the biggest problems received their broadband from old-fashioned copper wires, known as DSL, while firms using fibre optic cable were able to deliver a much swifter service.

Come on providers, get your act together!!
