Were you foogled by Google…?

September 21, 2009 on 9:23 pm | In Finance, Science Fiction Technology | No Comments

Google have finally come out and explained that mysterious doodles on their search engine masthead had a real purpose; they were to celebrate the birthday of science fiction author H. G. Wells. Now if one had had a Canon camera back then what would Wells have thought…?

The doodles were a UFO and strange crop circles and had the online world abuzz as to what Google were getting at. Each day has seen different drawings but each carried a clue pointing towards the birthdate of Wells – the final being a scene from War of the Worlds. Old Herbert George would be pleased; he would be 143 years old and he fooled people back in 1898 with his stories of mars and martians just as Google flummoxed a more sophisticated audience today.
